About

Richard Mimms is a student and practitioner of the Sacred Arts living and working in Sussex County, Delaware. His work is informed by the contemplative traditions of Buddhism, the Western magical tradition, folklore, mythology, and the study of symbolism. He approaches these disciplines not as entertainment or spectacle, but as ways of understanding the relationship between people, place, memory, and meaning. The practice exists to serve individuals, families, and the local community through careful listening, thoughtful observation, and ritual work appropriate to significant moments in life. This may include house and land assessment, end-of-life support, symbolic consultation, and educational programs exploring the history and practice of sacred traditions.Richard does not claim exclusive access to truth, secret revelation, or supernatural authority. Rather, he understands the Sacred Arts as a disciplined practice of attention, responsibility, and service. This practice is intentionally local in scope, serving Sussex County and the surrounding region by appointment.

Services

The Sacred Arts have traditionally existed at the intersection of practical service, contemplation, and community life. This practice continues that understanding by offering assistance during moments of transition, uncertainty, and significance.Services may include:Spiritual ConsultationPrivate conversations intended to help individuals reflect upon difficult circumstances, recurring patterns, symbolic experiences, or questions of meaning.House and Land AssessmentCareful observation and assessment of homes, properties, and places that hold unusual significance or present concerns to those who live there.End-of-Life and Memorial SupportRitual and contemplative support for individuals and families facing death, loss, or remembrance.Community EducationPublic talks, classes, and discussions exploring symbolism, folklore, contemplative traditions, and the history of the Sacred Arts.Seasonal and Community ObservancesWhere appropriate, assistance with blessings, dedications, memorial observances, and other rites marking significant transitions for individuals or communities.A Note on CompensationThis practice is not organized around the pursuit of profit, but neither is it entirely separate from the practical realities of ordinary life.Meaningful work requires time, preparation, travel, study, and ongoing commitment. When circumstances permit, reasonable compensation helps sustain the practice and allows it to remain available to the community. At the same time, genuine need should never become a barrier to receiving help.Fees are discussed individually and are determined by the nature and scope of the work involved. In cases of hardship, accommodations or reduced fees may be offered whenever possible. The goal is not to sell spiritual services, but to maintain an ethical practice that is both sustainable and accessible. No one should hesitate to make an inquiry because of financial concerns.

Ethics

The Sacred Arts have often suffered from sensationalism, exploitation, and grandiose claims. This practice is founded on a different set of principles.Service Before CommerceThe purpose of this work is to be of genuine benefit to individuals and the community. Recommendations are made solely because they are believed to be appropriate, never because they generate additional fees.If no action is warranted, that will be said plainly. No Guaranteed OutcomesNo spiritual, symbolic, or ritual practice can honestly promise certainty.Clients are paying for time, preparation, experience, and thoughtful practice—not for guaranteed supernatural results.Respect for Personal BeliefPeople of any faith tradition, or none at all, are welcome. This practice does not seek converts, members, or followers. It exists to provide assistance and perspective, not to replace a person's own religion, philosophy, or conscience.Autonomy and IndependenceThe goal of every consultation is to help clients become more capable of navigating their own circumstances.Dependency is neither encouraged nor cultivated.Professional BoundariesThis practice does not provide:- medical diagnosis or treatment,
- mental health counseling,
- legal advice,
- financial advice,
- emergency services.
When appropriate, clients will be encouraged to seek assistance from qualified professionals.ConfidentialityPersonal matters discussed during consultations are treated with the same discretion expected of pastoral care or private professional consultation. What Is Not OfferedThis practice does not perform:- love spells,
- curse work,
- prosperity or lottery magic,
- coercive rituals,
- guaranteed communication with the dead,
- services intended to manipulate or control the will of another person.
The purpose of the Sacred Arts is not power over others, but deeper participation in the responsibilities of being human.
